Emily Lyons (ep 47) and Alexandria Santaguida (ep 48) / a So-Called Normal double feature

Two episodes in one week!

For our regular Monday release, I shared my conversation with Emily Lyons. Emily is the founder and CEO of Femme Fatale Media, among many other successful companies. I originally wanted to chat with her about how mental health intersects with entrepreneurship, especially as a woman in business.

We did that, but then we also went a whole lot deeper. Emily bravely shared her own experiences with anxiety, grieving through the loss of her sister, and her own hospitalization to address her mental health.

That’s not all!

We also had an amazing midweek guest!

On Wednesday we released my conversation with Alexandria Santaguida. Alexandria is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter, yoga teacher, and sound healer. I wanted to talk with her on the show because I’ve been bumping into her all over the place for a few years now, but we had never had the opportunity for a conversation.

I’m also a big advocate for the idea of finding what works for you in the recovery and maintenance of your mental health. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and if something improves the quality of your life and doesn’t harm anyone in the process, then you do you! So while I’ve had many very positive experiences with mindfulness meditation and yoga, I’m almost completely unfamiliar with the idea of sound healing. Alexandria helped me to understand. Listen to our chat here, and everywhere podcasts are found!

If you’re interested in hearing what a “sound bath” sounds like, check out this video of Alexandria performing at TEDxToronto. I was in the audience, and it was quite a thing to experience live!
